On Wednesday, four girl students wearing hijab on their faces were stopped from entering Bilhaur Inter College in Bilhaur town of Kanpur. There is a lot of resentment among the girl students regarding this. However, the principal says that dress code is applicable in the college, so this has been done.
Acting Principal of Bilhaur Inter College, Surjeet Singh Yadav said that dress code is applicable in the college as per government orders. Therefore, no student should come wearing religious or anti-social attire. If any student comes wearing religious dress, he/she should go to the college gate or the college changing room and change it.
Only then will he/she be allowed to enter the college campus and class. The principal said that only the prescribed dress is allowed inside the college, students coming in non-traditional dress are stopped. On the other hand, senior teacher and former chairman of the college, Noor Idrisi said that four students who came with their faces covered like a hijab were stopped.
The senior students were not following the dress code, on which the principal also tried to explain, but the students did not listen to him either. After this, such students have been banned from entering the classes if they come wearing religious clothes. Teachers said that wearing hijab in the classes causes many problems in teaching and learning.
